"The strange, soothing flood of peace, the sense that all is well, which goes with the true sex, flooded him now. [...] he doubted if women had any left of the genuine, deep sex of womanhood." 81

"From his bowels, from his knees, from the middle of his breast he felt himself streaming towards her, and the flow gradually growing stronger... Gradually he was losing the sense of time and of consequence." 103 (My italics)

"The sense of consequence": this is one of the many reasons why D.H.Lawrence is one of my favourite authors. Another is his description of sex scenes in which he demonstrates a very deep understanding of what love is for both men and women.

The picture represents the book after washing my first copy of the book with some clothes at 50°C... I hadn't finished reading this version, so had to order a second copy!
